Equilibrium Derivative Field

pedology × semiochemistry — rate-of-change as primary signal
unstable (erosion >> weathering)
equilibrium zone (fertile)
stable plateau (weathering >> erosion)
derivative path (transition zone)
BACKGROUND: each pixel holds two seeded integer rates (weathering W, erosion E). Color encodes equilibrium proximity: W ≈ E → rich ochre; imbalance → dark. PATHS: generated by an integer-stepping walker that follows the spatial derivative of the equilibrium field — moving only where the field is changing fastest, never where it is highest. Both soil depth and ant navigation are problems of the derivative, not the value. SEED: 197304825611
